  • Hierarchy of the CPD

    Hi,

I'm looking for specific titles, subdivisions and structure of the CPD. Especially related to homicide and organized crime, but street patrol as well.

I've looked everywhere online including Clearpath and other City of Chicago websites. Zip.

For example: even in news stories the Bureau of Organized Crime is referred to as the Bureau of Organized Crime, Organized Crime Bureau and the Organized Crime Division.

I'm a writer (fiction) and pro-police, so there's no nefarious underpinnings to this question. :-) My novel's almost complete, and I want it to be as factually accurate as possible.

I appreciate you reading this post and thank you in advance for any help.

Not really sure what you need. Homicide is actually called Homicide, Gangs, and Sex Division (or HGS for short). It used to be called Violent Crimes. Other detective units are called Robbery, Burglary, Theft (or RBT) and Special Victims Unit (SVU). SVU handles youth related issues as well as domestic and high risk missing persons.
What ellse do you need? Ill look into the organized crime title for you.

I am still waiting to get hired, as far as I know I have completed all the necessary steps to be hired.
        Power Test
        All paper work turned in.
        Drug and Background screening
        Psychology Test
        Lie Detector
        In Home Visit
Friends and co-workers have filled out and returned documents

Am I missing anything or is this just the waiting for the call??

sounds like you are just waiting. You could always try calling the investigators and see where you stand.

I only took 1 power test, no word on when I will take the final one.
