  • Chicago Police Search Warrant Uncovers Cannabis Growing Operation

    CHICAGO – The Chicago Police Narcotics Unit executed a search warrant Tuesday night and found a cannabis grow house operating inside a West Loop residence. Replete with a ventilation system, grow lights and generators, this growth operation supported approximately 100 cannabis plants. Police also discovered a quantity of cannabis drying in several bedrooms.

    Ryan Vrane, 31, of the 300 block of South Jefferson Street is charged with one count of Possessing More Than 5000 Grams of Cannabis, Producing 50-200 Cannabis Plants, both felonies. Vrane is also charged with two misdemeanors, Possession of Cannabis and Possession of Anabolic Steroids.

    Officers from the Chicago Police Narcotics Unit cultivated information that led to the issuance of the search warrant for the location on Jefferson. Upon entry they observed the plants and paraphernalia necessary to support such an operation. Further search of the residence turned up several vials of suspect anabolic steroids and approximately $1,100 U.S. currency which was seized as part of the search warrant. The total estimated street value of the cannabis recovered during execution of this search warrant exceeded
    $260,000.
